New Delhi: Are you buying a new SIM card? So some strict rules should be followed from D.1. Not only the consumers but also the SIM dispensing dealers have to follow strict rules. 10 lakhs for violation of rules. Penalty is imposed. Jail is imposed in serious cases.
In view of the fact that most of the cyber crimes and anti-national acts are using mobile numbers (Mobile Sim) linked with false documents, the central government has now taken strict action to curb these.
What are the new rules?
Only businessmen/companies are allowed to purchase SIM cards in bulk. A normal user can only get a maximum of 9 SIMs from one identity
After 90 days of cancellation/deactivation of the SIM card, the number will be assigned to another customer.
Customers purchasing SIM cards will have to submit their Aadhar Card and Demographic Data Collection.
10 lakh to telecom operators as per the new rules for selling SIM cards through unregistered dealers. Penalty is imposed.
All SIM card dealers must submit documents and register by the end of November. SIM card dealers or retailer need to provide Corporate Identification Number (CIN), Limited Liability Partnership Identification Number (LLPIN) or Business Licence, Aadhaar or Passport, PAN, Goods and Service Tax Registration Certificate etc. for registration.
If SIM dealers submit fake documents, telecom operators should block their IDs. Also, all those customers who have been issued a SIM card by the SIM dealer have to re-check the documents given to get the SIM.
SIM card sellers who remain unregistered by November 30 will have to pay a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh and face imprisonment.
What did Ashwini Vaishnav say?
Earlier it was possible to buy SIM card in bulk. Henceforth we will end this and bring provision of proper business communication. This will help in stopping fraudulent calls. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said in August that there are 10 lakh SIM dealers in the country and they will be given ample time for police verification.
In May this year, the Punjab Police blocked 1.8 lakh SIM cards activated through fake identities. 17 people were arrested for issuing these SIM cards
